Dr. Sarah Pierard & Alfie
Clinical Leader

Bio
Sarah joined the Whitehorse team in 2021 as a senior veterinarian, in 2022 she officially became a part of the management team as the Clinical Leader.
Sarah has an extensive background in the animal care industry.
Sarah has always been passionate about animals, and first started volunteering in veterinary clinics during high school in 1994. She completed her undergraduate degree with first class Honors in 2004, and then her Master’s degree in 2014.
She completed and passed her Membership Examinations in 2021 in Small Animal Medicine, while studying in and out of lockdowns!
Sarah has worked in general practice in Australia and in the UK, and then worked in a diabetes referral clinic for 7 years. She has also been a guest lecturer for the final year veterinary nursing students completing their Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing degree at Melbourne Polytechnic since 2018. Sarah has more than 25 years in the industry, and more than 17 years as a veterinarian.

- Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (Small Animal Medicine)
Special Interests: Because of her experience working in a diabetes clinic, Sarah has a particular interest in diabetes mellitus in cats and dogs, as well as other endocrine/hormonal conditions (e.g. Cushing ’s Syndrome, Addison’s Disease). She also has a keen interest in internal medicine and nutrition. She loves all animals, but is particularly tragic about older cats.
Pets: Sarah has a Burmese cat, Withnail, who keeps her very busy at home!
Personal Hobbies: In her spare time, Sarah enjoys cooking, gardening, playing the piano, studying languages, and travelling.
Dr. Peter Bradbrook
Veterinary Associate

Bio
Peter graduated from Melbourne University as a Vet in 2010, and has worked extensively around Australia and in the UK. In 2019, he completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Dentistry)/ Masters of Dentistry from La Trobe University. Since then, he has been working in both veterinary and human dental clinics.
Recently, Peter has had the privilege of working on primates at Melbourne Zoo. In 2022, Peter completed and passed his Membership Examinations in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery.

Special Interests: Peter has a special interest in veterinary endodontics (including root canal therapy and vital pulp treatment), restorative work (e.g., fractured/defected teeth), dental surgery (extractions, periodontal disease management and gum overgrowth correction) and orthodontics (correcting malaligned teeth).
Pets: Peter has two cats, Marley and Lola that keep him very entertained with their quirky individual personalities. Looking forward to growing the family with another dog someday soon.
Personal Hobbies: In his spare time, Peter enjoys surfing, ocean swimming, mountain biking, travelling and all things outdoors. Always looking for exciting new hobbies, recently gave snowboarding and kite surfing a go.
Dr. Emily Joss & Alfie

Bio
Emily joined the Whitehorse family in February 2021, and was quick to settle into the role as our senior surgical veterinarian.
Emily’s first job in the animal care industry was as a nurse, which was her part-time job while she was studying veterinary science. After graduating in 2016, she entered a busy general practice where she fell in love with all aspects of veterinary care. Surgery in particular became a passion, and Emily went on to complete a 12-month Surgical Internship in 2020.
Qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 2016, Bachelor of Science 2012
Special Interests: Emily thrives in all aspects of being a veterinarian, from complex medical cases to welcoming new puppies and kittens into their families. However, she has a particular passion for all surgical procedures including soft tissue, abdominal, orthopaedic, and dental surgery.
Pets: Alfie the Dachshund who loves walks on the beach and couch cuddles.
Monty and Tobi the rainbow lorikeets who are both very messy and naughty, but are loved in spite of that.
Birdie the cockatiel, who is full of tricks and lives to sing and chatter.
And Coco the elderly tabby cat definitely runs the whole show.
Personal hobbies: Emily enjoys quiet hobbies including painting, gardening (with variable success), fishing, and reading.
Dr. Hazel Patterson & Juniper

Bio
Hazel joined the Whitehorse team in 2016 as a New Graduate Veterinarian. She completed a rotational placement with the hospital during her final year of Veterinary Medicine, we all loved her so much that we simply had to have her on the team! She is now an integral team member and experienced Veterinarian having worked with us for many years now.
Hazel is very popular with our clients, especially those with cats! With her empathetic nature & gentle hands, she seems to have the magic touch & easily wins over the hearts of all of our feline patients.
Qualifications: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Bachelor of Science
Special Interests: Hazel has a special interest in Feline Medicine, however she enjoys seeing all Companion animals. Hazel thoroughly enjoys the daily variation of involved tasks in working as a Veterinarian. Working between Consulting, performing surgeries, working up cases with diagnostics and everything in between.
Pets: Hazel has a beautiful Siberian cat named Juniper, who is super smoochy, loving & extremely photogenic.
Personal Hobbies: Hazel enjoys cooking and dining out, following AFL (Hawks supporter), playing piano and spending time with her friends and family.
Dr. Gemma & Petrie

Bio
Gemma recently graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2022, who then joined the Whitehorse team in 2023 as a new graduate veterinarian. She was born and raised in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and developed a passion for veterinary medicine at an early age, growing up with a particular love of cats as well as guinea pigs throughout her childhood.
In clinic, Gemma enjoys getting to know and spending time with each one of her loved and valued patients.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science 2019, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 2022.
Special Interests: Being new to the field, Gemma is interested in anything and everything! Currently, Gemma has a particular interest in behaviour and figuring out why pets act the way they do.
Pets: Gemma shares her home with a 6 year old Domestic Medium Hair cat named Petrie, who loves pretending that she doesn’t exist.
Personal Hobbies: In her spare time, Gemma likes to spend time with her beloved cat Petrie, going to the cinemas, making DIY crafts and spending time exploring different foods and cuisines with her friends
Dr. Rodney Wynne

Qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours (Uni. of Melb. 1988)
Special Interests: Rod started his career in Small Animal Practice in Blackburn in Dec 1988 and his interests have included surgery and taking a ‘problem-orientated approach’ to medical cases. In the last 15 years or so, a particular interest in ‘in-house’ pathology; especially Cytology, and the development of skills in imaging; especially ultrasonography. Currently, Rod loves to do abdominal ultrasounds and standard echocardiograms to help the team with diagnosis and management of various illnesses.
Pets: Rod’s daughter Michaela has a beautiful, though slightly naughty, long haired ‘torti’ cat named Gracie. She is 4 years old and a delightful family member.
Personal Hobbies: Rod’s interests outside the veterinary world include involvement in Church activities at The Salvation Army in Ringwood and family gatherings with his beautiful wife of 35 years, Lisa, and adult children, David and Krystal, Matt and Amy and Michaela. In September, Rod and Lisa will become grandparents! Hobbies include walking, gym and fishing (especially for Gummies, Whiting and Snapper in Spring and Summer in Western Port!)
Dr. Priscillia & Gus

Bio
Born and raised in Malaysia, Priscillia left home in 2015 to pursue Veterinary Medicine at Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia. She graduated as a veterinarian in December 2020 and began her career in Tasmania where she joined a mixed practice veterinary clinic and enjoyed the diverse challenges of caring for both small and large animals. Priscillia moved to Victoria in 2023 and joined the Whitehorse family in June 2024. Priscillia is able to speak Mandarin (conversational), Malay language, and Hokkien dialect.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 2020.
Special Interests: Priscillia is interested in all aspects of general practice from providing care to her patients, to solving complex medicine cases as well as performing soft tissue and dental surgeries.
Pets: Priscillia has a cheeky Cavoodle puppy named Gus, who enjoys cuddles and nap time as much as she does!
Personal hobbies: Priscillia enjoys spending her quiet time at home with her partner and puppy, Gus or exploring new culinary delights at restaurants and cafes!

Simone & Bruce

Bio
Simone started at Whitehorse in 2019 as a volunteer student whilst completing her Certificate II in Animal Studies and then continuing on to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
Simone officially joined the team in 2021 and shortly after completed her Cert IV in 2022.
Special Interests: Simone has a passion for surgical nursing and assisting the consulting vet to help the front of house run smoothly.
Simone is excited to further her skills in working with surgical & hospital cases, along with assisting vets with their procedures and scrubbing into surgery.
Pets: Simone’s family includes 8 yo Bruce, an English Staffy. Bruce is a gorgeous anxious boy who thinks he is a lap dog and prefers to be indoors snuggled up on the couch. He is a very patient boy with 3 young girls in the house who like to play dress ups with him.
Personal Hobbies: Simone loves to spend her free time with her husband and 3 daughters, trying out local cafes and frequently visiting their holiday home in Rye for beach trips.

Meet Nurse Donna!
Donna joined the team at Whitehorse as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse in 1990. Donna came to Whitehorse with eighteen months of experience from previous vet clinic ‘Brandon Park Veterinary Hospital’. At that stage, this was the first Accredited Hospital in Victoria. Donna brought her accreditation knowledge across and contributed largely in the process of Whitehorse becoming an Accredited Veterinary Hospital of Victoria.
Donna is our most senior and long-term Veterinary Nurse who is a very familiar face to all our clients and a valuable member of our team.
Qualifications: Advanced Certificate in Veterinary Nursing, Diploma in Animal Care (ICS), Certificate III in Canine Behaviour & Training
Special interest: Donna has an interest in a number of different areas, including; Surgical Nursing, dentistry, Weight Management, behaviour and training.
Pets: Donna’s Dogs lead a very active life on her property with the horses. They get plenty of long walks and actively participate in professional agility and tracking trials with plenty of medals, trophies and ribbons to show for it!

Meet Nurse Annabel!
Annabel began her journey here at Whitehorse as a Veterinary Nurse Placement Student in 2018. Annabel made such an impression that we just had to have her join our team on a permanent basis, she has since completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Box Hill Institute.
Special Interests: All aspects of surgical nursing, pathology & most of all anything reproductive!
Pets: Annabel has an extremely enthusiastic & adorable chocolate labradoodle called Bea PLUS 3 turtles, a Darwin carpet python & 28 year old Blue tongue lizard called Harry.
Personal Hobbies: Annabel enjoys spending her time drawing, socialising with her close group of friends & attending 80’s based music concerts – including Queen & Elton John.

Rachael began her nursing career in 2011.
Prior to joining the Whitehorse team in 2019 as a Senior Veterinary Nurse, she had been working at another busy general practice clinic for 8 years

Special Interests: Rachael enjoys all aspect of veterinary nursing but shows a keen interest in hospital nursing & helping pets return to their optimal health.
Pets: Rachael has a Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier Ivy & a Domestic short-haired Winston – these two are totally head over heels for one another.
Personal Hobbies: Rachael loves spending time with her husband and son, when they have spare time they’re knee deep in home renovations.

Meet Nurse Emily!
Emily started at Whitehorse in October 2021, she joined the Whitehorse Team as a trainee nurse. Emily came to Whitehorse with experience working within a busy small animal clinic.
Qualifications: Certificate III in Animal Studies specialising in veterinary nursing skills, and is currently studying Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
Special Interests: Emily enjoys working in reception and surgical nursing. She has a strong interest in surgical cases and seeing your pet’s health improve after their stay in hospital.
Pets: Emily has a 6-year old Kelpie x Border Collie x New Zealand Huntaway called Hunter and 6-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat called Rosalie.
Personal Hobbies: Emily loves to spend time with her family and friends when she is not working, she also loves horror movies and going to the beach when the weather is warm.

Meet Nurse Elena!
Elena joined the team at Whitehorse as a veterinary nurse in 2023 after working across different types of emergency clinics. She started nursing in 2020 and has worked in general practice, as well as the fast-paced environment of a large emergency clinic!
Special Interests: Elena loves working in surgery and making sure that your loved ones receive the best possible care when in for procedures.
Pets: Elena is loved by Cavoodle Maggie, and Leo the feisty domestic shorthair cat. She enjoys spending as much time with them as possible.
Personal Hobbies: Elena is a big foodie and loves going out to dinner with friends and family. She also enjoys reading and binge-watching TV shows.

Meet Nurse Rachel!
Rachel joined the Whitehorse team in May of 2023. She has been nursing for 5 years completing her certificate IV in veterinary nursing in 2021. Prior to this Rachel completed a bachelor of science at the University of Melbourne majoring in animal health and disease and microbiology.
Special interests: surgical nursing, anaesthesia and dentistry. Rachel also loves trying to make the patients feel as comfortable as possible during their stay in hospital, giving them little comforts or spending extra time to try make them feel at ease.
Pets: At home Rachel has a very affectionate Australian cattle dog named Hades.
Personal hobbies: Rachel enjoys Yoga, charcoal drawing and going camping with Hades and her partner Toby whenever she can.

Meet Nurse Caitlin!
Caitlin joined the team as a qualified nurse at Whitehorse in July 2023. She came to the clinic with previous experience working in a busy small animal practice.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing at La Trobe University.
Special interests: Caitlin is passionate about animal welfare and behaviour, with a focus on low-stress approaches. She also has an interest in wildlife care. Caitlin really enjoys creating compassionate
connections with patients and their families.
Pets: Caitlin has a big fur family in her two homes… Daisy the Kelpie x and Hurley the Maltese x Shihtzu who live with Ivy the gorgeous cat, they are all very best friends. Willow the Jack Russel and Oscar the Silky Terrier x live with Tay the Dalmatian. They all keep Caitlin busy and are her world.
Personal hobbies: Caitlin loves adventuring on bush walks with her dogs, as well as having cuddles with them and Ivy the cat. Being out in nature is her happy place. She also plays tennis and netball, and enjoys the gym. Caitlin loves creating art, particularly mandalas and pet portraits! She also loves her houseplants.

Josie started at Whitehorse Veterinary Hospital in July 2023. She previously worked at an equine veterinary clinic for 4 years and is excited to further her nursing career in small animal nursing at Whitehorse.
Qualifications: Josie completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2019 at Australian College of Applied Animal Studies. She also completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Health Science.
Pets: Josie has a very special 8 year old German Shepherd dog named Khaleesi and a 9 year old Warmblood x Clyde horse named Mike.
Personal hobbies: Josie loves playing football, going to the gym, spending time with friends and family and hanging out with Khaleesi.

Meet Nurse Rose!
Rose was welcomed to the Whitehorse Veterinary Hospital team in June 2022 and couldn’t be more
excited about it!
When Rose joined the Whitehorse Veterinary Hospital she had no prior experience as a Nurse, but
quickly became our superstar trainee.
She is currently studying her Certificate III in Animal Studies at Box Hill Institute.
Qualifications: Rose is currently studying Certificate III in Animal Studies, with plans to complete Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in the near future.
Special Interests: Rose has a keen interest in dentistry and surgical nursing, but would love to do further training in wildlife care.
Pets: Rose has a 6 month-old miniature longhair dachshund Rory who is super cheeky and steals toilet paper whenever she’s given the chance. Rose has also opened her home to Tigerlily, a domestic
shorthair cat, who at all costs avoids human interaction.
Personal hobbies: Rose loves camping and tackling the 4wd tracks with friends, plant enthusiast, reading, binging Netflix shows and of course being with Rory.

- Our highly equipped surgical suite is an accredited & sterile environment for all kinds of surgeries ranging from desexing procedures, mass removals, orthopedic surgery, cancer surgery and much more.
